Negoro-nuri is one of oldest techniques we know. Well, originally it was not a „technique” – red (vermilion) overlayer has gradually wore off and black nakanuri layer became visible in some places. Normally this proces took many (even hundreds) of years, and negoro-nuri replicates it.
