Cashew lacquer (カシュー塗料 [kashū toryō] / カシュー [kashū])
Cashew lacquer is a synthetic coating system (cashew resin–based), used as a practical “lacquer-like” finish in some modern products. It is not urushi (漆 [urushi]) and cures by different chemistry, with different repair and aging behavior. Cashew lacquer can mimic gloss and color but should be treated as a distinct material category.
