A type of kawari-nuri showing textured brushstrokes or combed lines. The technique uses a mixture of urushi and egg wjite, hide glue or gelatin. Hakeme with a combed texture was developed by the famed lacquer artist Shibata Zeshin in the 19th century. See also: seigaiha-nuri, nami-nuri
