The oil-soluble fraction of the sap present in most of the Toxicodendron species. This compound is the core component of urushi which allows the urushi to cure to its characteristic appearance and physical properties. However, the compound also causes the contact dermatitis (urushi rash) associated with urushi and other Toxicodendron species.
