Kurome

Kurome is the refining process that removes or reduces water from raw urushi while improving its smoothness and coating behavior. It changes the lacquer from raw sap toward a more usable processed material. Temperature, time, and movement must be controlled carefully because overprocessing can damage the lacquer’s working qualities.
