Mizuneri

Mizuneri is the water-adjusting and kneading stage in urushi processing. The lacquer is worked to manage its water content, texture, and consistency before further refinement or use. Careful mizuneri affects flow, curing behavior, and how predictably the lacquer performs in later coats.
