Raden

Raden is shell inlay decoration using iridescent materials such as abalone, mother-of-pearl, or other nacre. Shell can be cut into thin shapes, used as fragments, or embedded as powder-like sparkle, then sealed under clear lacquer and polished flush. Good raden depends on clean cutting, optical depth, and careful leveling.
