Naka-nuri

Naka-nuri is the intermediate lacquer coating stage between the foundation layers and the final upper coats. These layers build thickness, refine the surface, and prepare a stable base for uwa-nuri or later decoration. Naka-nuri lacquer may be transparent, colored, or black depending on the construction and the intended final finish.
