Urushiol

Urushiol is the oil-soluble phenolic compound family that gives urushi its curing potential and many of its final material properties. It is also the main cause of urushi rash and related contact dermatitis, so uncured lacquer requires careful skin and eye protection, clean tools, and disciplined handling habits.
