Kijiro-urushi is a transparent or semi-transparent processed lacquer used for clear coats, tinted layers, and mixing with pigments. Its color and clarity vary by source, processing method, and age, so different makers’ kijiro can behave noticeably differently in tone, curing, and final depth.
