Nashiji

Nashiji is a pear-skin effect in lacquerwork, usually created by sprinkling fine metal powder into transparent or yellowish lacquer so the surface glows with a soft granular shimmer. The term can describe both the visual effect and the decorative field used in maki-e and related techniques.
