Maki-e
Maki-e is sprinkled picture: a decorative lacquer technique where metal powders, pigments, kanshitsu-fun, or other powders are applied onto wet or tacky lacquer. The technique ranges from flat hira-maki-e to raised taka-maki-e and polished togidashi maki-e, depending on layer construction and finishing.
