Kawari-nuri

Kawari-nuri is a broad category of variant or experimental lacquer techniques that create patterned surfaces through texture, contrast layers, embedded materials, or controlled sanding-back. Many Tsugaru-nuri finishes belong to this family, where the final image is revealed by polishing through built-up layers.
