kashu (カシュー [kashū])
Kashū is the common Japanese label for cashew lacquer (カシュー塗料 [kashū toryō]), a synthetic resin finish. It is used as an industrial or craft coating with lacquer-like aesthetics but is not natural urushi (漆 [urushi]). Its curing, durability profile, and repair methods differ from urushi.
